"There is a movement among Jewish interfaith and secular groups to find ways to commemorate Yom Hashoah. The rituals are in transition, but there is a growing audience searching for ways to mark the day." I worked with material provided by The Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre's archive from their collection to create artwork that while preserving the documentary authenticity of the material would be an artistic touchstone to the emotions, memories and the history of the Holocaust and would honour the victims and survivors. For some of the pieces that illustrate the book I used my normal media and produced actual original artworks. Other works were done digitally. Below are the actual original artworks along with three digital pieces. |
