The events in Egypt in 2011 reminded me of this piece I did in 1986 during the 'People Power' revolution in the Philippines when Ferdinand Marcos was ousted from power. I felt at the time that when the mass of people rise up to overthrow a regime that the mass movement as an entity is in a way blind, doesn't know yet where it's going and where it will end up. When clarity or resolution of this period of flux comes, it comes by the eventual fragmentation of the unity of will of the people. But for the moment the people are blindly groping toward the light hoping that their aspirations will be met.
